seaweed pressing workshops

Hand pressed, real pressed seaweed pressings laid out on a wooden table

Would you like to learn something new?  Come and join us for a relaxing creative workshop learning how to press seaweed.  We will share our knowledge of seaweed pressing, including sustainable foraging, different seaweed pressing techniques, and species identification. We will look into the history of seaweed collecting and its connection with Falmouth Bay.

We run regular workshops at Sailors Jail Gallery in Falmouth. We can also arrange small group seaweed pressing workshops in our home studio in Falmouth (minimum 2 people) for your family and friends, £55 per person. Just get in touch to book! Vouchers for workshops are also available, and they make a great gift!

We keep our seaweed pressing workshops small so everyone has enough time to practice.  Andy will demonstrate the basics, then you’ll have the chance to make some perfect pieces of beach art.

After the workshop, we take your work away and press it, carefully tending to it to give your pressings the highest chance of success.  When the seaweed pressings are ready, we will label and mount them so you can frame them - we use standard frame sizes to make life easier.  Your finished pieces can either be collected or posted to your home.

We’d love to share our passion for seaweed with you - feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
